Julie Goss has been designing interiors in Washington, DC since 2001. Her projects are noted for their comfortable mix of styles – modern with tribal, traditional with ethnic – along with the use of beautiful natural textures and artwork. Julie has developed an appealing style that blends historicism with a modern and fresh sensibility.

When taking on a new project, Julie is guided by each client’s individual taste, functional requirements and budget. A close consideration of the site follows, laying the foundation for a design plan that showcases the unique features presented by each project’s architecture and views.

Born in Baltimore, Julie studied in France where she developed an abiding appreciation for European art and antiques. Following a career in journalism (she holds a masters degree in journalism from Columbia University), Julie traveled extensively around the world. She absorbed the colors and flavors of China in Beijing, Argentina in Buenos Aires, and Turkey in Istanbul. A sense of history and other cultures often finds its way into her interiors.

Julie completed her formal design training at the Corcoran College of Art + Design, part of the acclaimed Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Her master’s degree thesis was entitled, “Biomimicry: Looking to Nature for Design Solutions.”

She is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), a nationwide association of designers, industry representatives and educators committed to interior design. She is also an associate member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), a global network of interior design professionals.
